SURVEY PROJECT

You will choose a partner for this project (no more than 3 in any group).  In your group you will come up with whatever topic you wish to survey and you will survey the class to get their response.  Examples can be favorite candy, cars, colors, type of cell phone, music type, song, shoes, etc….. options are really endless.  Only one group per class can have the same topic.  You must have at least 6 choices for your classmates to choose from.

Ask each person in class, including yourselves, to vote on your topic.  (you can create an interactive Google sheet with your choices and share it with everyone in the class and they can vote on it, or you may print out a sheet and have each student vote)

Once everyone in class has had an opportunity to vote on every group’s topics you will calculate your results and create a Google Sheet or Excel spreadsheet to show your results.  Use borders, shadings, merging, different size fonts, etc to present your results.

You will then create two charts to show the results in picture form.  You will create either a Bar or Column chart and a Pie chart.  Make sure and title each chart etc….

Title this document Survey_whateveryourtopicis.  Each person will turn in this assignment so make sure you share it with each member of the group.

Instructions for final day of Stock Market Activity

Today we will finish out our Stock Market Activity.  You should have 6-7 day of prices to create a trend of your 10 chosen stocks.  Today we will complete day 6-7 of new prices, net worth, and profit or loss.

Today we will insert 4 graphs that will hopefully show you a trend of what your stock prices did over a period of time.  You will insert 2 line graphs, a column graph, and a bar chart.

The first graph will be a Stack line chart with Markers.  You will choose two of your stocks and create a line chart that shows their price trend over your 6-7 days of data.  To do this you click on the first stock you want and then hold down the CONTROL  key and click on each days price going across your data (from the original price to your last days price) and then do the same thing for your second choice.  This should highlight all of the information for those two stocks.  You will title this chart Seven Day Price Trend.

Your next graph will be a 2D or 3D bar chart.    In this graph you will Highlight all 10 of your stocks then hold the control key down and then highlight each of the price columns from top to bottom.  Then insert a 2D or 3D graph and change the name to Seven Day Price Trend.

Your next graph will be a Column Graph.  You will follow the same instructions as the bar chart for this graph.

The final graph will be a line chart that show the trend of your profit or loss.  You will click on the Word Total in col B then hold down the control key and click on each of your profit or loss totals and insert the graph below the first three.  Title this loss Profit/Loss Trend.

Stock Market Day Two

Today you will need to add columns G, H, and I.  New Price Day Two, New Net Worth, and Profit or Loss.  Again use the text wrap feature to make yours look as close to the example as possible.

Today you will check your investments for day 2.  You will find the price for each of your stocks and enter them in to the New Price Day Two column.  You will then enter a formula in column H that will multiply the original number bought (Col E) times the new price (Col G), this will give you the new net worth of your investment.  To calculate if you are making a profit or loss your will place a formula in col I that subtracts the original amount spent (Col F) from the new net worth (Col H).  You will need to place formulas for totals at the bottom and format all of your information accordingly.  Any thing that is a $$$ should be formatted for currency and 2 decimal places anything else should be for general and 0 decimals.

Stock Market Activity

Follow the instructions provided for you to complete your Excel spreadsheet or Google Sheets for the Stock Market Activity.  Either application will work and will use the same formulas you will need to complete this activity.

You can also use Google Finance instead of Yahoo Finance to search for your stocks/companies to invest in.

Invest wisely and see if your investments go up or down in the next week.

March Calendar

Today you will create a calendar for the month of March just like you did for November.  You will use Google Docs and create a table that will fit the month of March.  March has 31 days and begins on a Wednesday.  Again include any holidays that occur in March, include spring break, any birthdays of your classmates, some crazy holidays for March.  Make sure that it is spaced appropriately and you use shading and different size for the Month title, also make sure you change the orientation to LANDSCAPE.   You know how to do this and this will be your first grade for the next six weeks.  Go back and look at your November calendar if you need some ideas.

Make it look good.  You may print a copy out for yourself if you would like.  Just one.

Monthly Bills Chart using Excel

In this exercise you will create the Monthly Bills chart that is on the back of the first page.  You will make it look like the one on the page.  All of your formatting instructions are on page 1.  REMEMBER WHEN YOU ENTER YOUR NUMBERS DO NOT PUT $$ IN FRONT OF THEM THEY WILL SHOW UP WHEN YOU FORMAT YOUR NUMBERS FOR CURRENCY!!!!

After you have created the spreadsheet you will add the graphs.  Each graph will be on its own seperate sheet (page) and you will name that sheet the last name of the renters that the graph represents, example change Sheet 2 to Delgado and so forth.  So when you finish you will have five sheets total.  To copy the graphs to their own sheet you simple create the graph on the initial page then cut and paste it to the new sheet.  Make sure you are changing the names of the graphs to the renters last names.

Save this spreadsheet as Bills Charts_your name to the computer then upload to your drive and go back and delete it from your computer.

Dream Vacation Project

You have just won $25,000 and have decided to take a seven day dream vacation, but first your need to develop a plan!  Your vacation can be what you want it to be:  you can fly around the world, go skiing in Europe, travel to Asian countries or book a hunters dream trip for a week.  Use your imagination, after all you have 25K!!!!!

Your plan will include an itinerary (using word or docs), a budget spreadsheet (using Excel), and a power point or slides showing where you are going and things you are going to do on your vacation.
You will need to create a folder in your drive titled Dream Vacation and put all the documents created for this assignment in this folder.

You will research what an Itinerary is and create one for all seven days of your trip.  It should include flights, ship off times if a cruise, hotels, check in check out times, details of your trip on a day to day basis. This document should cover all 7 days.  You can put in page breaks and put each day on a separate page but still in the same document.  If you look up some examples it will help you with planning this document.  Your vacation should leave on Sunday and return on Saturday.

You will research all the cost involved in taking this dream vacation and create a spreadsheet budget to account for all the cost associated with this trip.  Your budget will need to include transportation cost, food cost, Entertainment cost (shows, skydiving, scuba diving, etc), hotel cost, etc…. You will have to do extensive research to get accurate cost information.   You will need to put in the proper formulas to total your expenses for this trip.  Research example budgets to give you an idea of a format you might like to use.  Make sure that you make your budget look awesome.  Use borders, shading, format your numbers with $$, etc…..  You need to spend as much of your $25,000 as possible but do not go over.

You will create a slide presentation that shows where you are going on your vacation.  It should include enough slides to show what you are planning to do on each day.

Classroom Inventory Spreadsheet

In your Google Classroom I have sent you an example excel spreadsheet for our Classroom Inventory assignment.  This is only an example you may make yours look a bit different.

Count all the items on the list that are in our classroom and then construct an Excel spreadsheet that resembles the example that I have sent to you in classroom.  Follow the instructions that are given to you at the bottom of the example.  You may use different fill colors to accent your spreadsheet, just remember that some are harder than others to see through and you want your spreadsheet to look good and easy for an old man like me to read.

To get the design I have in my chart you will use the fill effects button under the fill pattern tab in the format cells dialog box.  (highlight range, right click, format cells)

Save the file as your name_inventory and upload to your drive and then delete the file from the computer.
